Another great Christmas Party event was held on 11 December 2016 at Leemon Reserve, providing an opportunity for members to catch up socially and to celebrate the year's tennis results and upcoming Christmas - on the eve of the Club's 50th Anniversary year in 2017.

Back by popular demand and providing fabulous entertainment was The GTC Trio of Jo Cunningham on acoustic guitar, combining together on vocals with sister Merran, while the debonair Mark Merrick provided an overlay of tone and a driving beat on double bass. Thank you Jo, Merran and Mark!

"Bern the Chef" did a wonderful job of catering, providing a never-ending stream of food for guests - ably served by elegant waitresses led by Nina Marquard-Karp and friends.  Thank you Bern, Nina and friends.

Peter Walton (wearing a cheery Christmas shirt) led the formal proceedings, announcing the new Club Committee Members  including new members Duncan Ramsay and Regan Bull, and thanking all committee members and especially the outgoing members (Janice Gibson and Sanjiv Gopinath) for their contribution to the club.

Peter also announced the winners of the Adult Open and Special (Handicap) Championships and the Junior Championships - with Caroline Elliot awarding the prizes. Refer to the Tennis Championships page for further details.  Congratulations to all winners!

Bill Oliver (Life Member and organiser of the Saturday Internal Competition) welcomed all of the competition teams and invited the team captains to the stage. This year's trophy was awarded jointly to the Purple Team (Annabelle Burley captain) and to the Red Team (Sharon Morse captain) - in an exciting finish, with Annabelle holding serve from 15-40 down in the last match.  Well done to all teams.

Taking out the Player of the Year (POTY) Award was Edy Sirca in a very tight finish, just ahead of Duncan Ramsay and the Arthur Harrison Trophy was ably won this year by Caroline Elliott particularly for her contribution to Ladies Tennis and for her support to Andy Bennett in the Juniors.

It was a great night - doesn't get much better than this!

Bring on 2017.
